Environment Canada issues Winter Weather Travel Advisory

Due to the forecast of freezing rain and freezing drizzle, Environment Canada has issued a Winter Weather Travel Advisory for Kingston and the area on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019.
The advisory, which was issued at 10:54 a.m. indicates that ice pellets mixed with freezing rain or freezing drizzle are continuing in the area. The statement was issued for the Kingston – Odessa – Frontenac Islands area, as well as the Napanee – Consecon and Prince Edward County – Sand Banks Park areas. Ice pellet accumulations of 2 to 4 cm are expected before the precipitation changes to freezing drizzle this evening or overnight.
“Freezing drizzle is expected to continue overnight and into Thursday. Freezing drizzle advisories may be required,” Environment Canada said in the statement.
“The evening commute will likely be affected due to accumulating ice pellets and the potential for untreated surfaces to become icy.”
Please avoid travelling if at all possible, and drive with caution if travel is necessary.
