Environment Canada issues winter weather travel advisory for Kingston

Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for the Kingston area, advising of heavy snowfall which may impact travel late this afternoon and into the evening.
The advisory was issued at 12:28 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 29, 2023, and notes that travel may be hazardous due to changing weather conditions.
“A sharp cold front will move through eastern Ontario late today bringing with it a burst of heavy wet snow. Wind along the front may gust as high as 70 km/h. This combination of snow and strong winds may create a period of challenging driving conditions,” Environment Canada said.
Local snowfall is expected to be heavy at times, with amounts of 1 or 2 cm possible. In addition, a sudden drop in temperature in the wake of the cold front could cause roads, sidewalks and parking lots to become slippery, according to the weather agency.
“Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.”
