Environment Canada issues Snowstorm Warning for expected Kingston and area

Environment Canada has upgraded a previous Special Weather Statement to a Snowstorm Warning for Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Napanee, Consecon, Picton, and Sandbanks Park.

Two rounds of snow are expected Monday and into Tuesday morning across portions of southern Ontario.

Heavy snowfall is expected on Monday night and into Tuesday.

Environment Canada says it is expecting an initially light snowfall to affect the area on Monday morning and afternoon, with a few centimetres possible.

The weather service says that a much more significant amount of snow will move into the region on Monday evening.

The snow will likely fall heavily at times and continue into Tuesday morning. Total amounts of 25 to 35 cm are possible.

Residents should be prepared for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
