Environment Canada issues Snow Squall Warning for Kingston area
Environment Canada has upgraded a previous Winter Weather Travel Advisory to a Snow Squall Warning for Kingston, Odessa, and Frontenac Islands.
Periods of brief but intense snowfall are expected. Visibilities will be rapidly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow.
Multiple lines of heavy snow and blowing snow have developed along a cold front that is crossing Eastern Ontario.
Sudden near zero visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow are expected as the cold front passes through. Total snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm are possible by the time the snow ends late this morning.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
