Environment Canada issues rainfall alert for Kingston area

Kingston and the area are in store for some heavy rain as the week comes to an end, with Environment Canada predicting rainfall of up to 40 mm.
Just after 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, Environment Canada issued a special weather statement, advising that rain, at times heavy, is in the forecast for the night of Friday, Oct. 15, and into the morning Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021. The alert is in effect for the Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Napanee, Consecon, Picton, and the Sandbanks Park areas.
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to move across the area over that time period, with heavy rainfall amounts reaching 30 to 40 mm. Isolated rainfalls amounting to 50 mm are possible, according to the national weather agency.
“Rainfall Warnings may be required for portions of the area at a later time,” Environment Canada said.
