Environment Canada advises of possible freezing rain overnight

Update (Friday, Jan. 24, 2020 at 3:30 p.m.): Environment Canada has now elevated this weather situation to a freezing rain warning.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Kingston and the area advising of possible freezing rain overnight, followed by snow Saturday afternoon.
The statement was issued on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020 and is in effect for the Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Napanee, Consecon, Picton, and Sandbanks Park areas.
“Precipitation will move into the area overnight. With temperatures near the freezing mark, some of this precipitation may fall as rain or freezing rain,” the statement reads.
“The freezing rain may then last for several hours before transitioning to a brief period of heavy snow Saturday afternoon. Total snowfall accumulations of 5 cm are possible by Saturday evening.”
