Enjoy the season at Little Cataraqui Creek’s Open Trails day

Enjoy some fresh air, colourful fall foliage, and family-friendly activities at Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area. On Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, Cataraqui Conservation will waive the gate fee for Open Trails day. From 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., the Conservation Area and Outdoor Centre will be open, with guided tours and activities.
According to Cataraqui Conservation, the Outdoor Centre will feature a ‘Craft Corner’ where visitors can make nature-themed buttons as well as partake in creating ‘tree cookie’ art or name tags. Visitors will also learn about various birds and turtles that inhabit the property through interpretative displays, can join an eyes-only scavenger hunt, or buy some seed to feed the chickadees once they hit the trails.
Cataraqui Conservation staff will be offering guided hikes at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., according to a media release. Hikers are asked to please meet up on the front lawn of the Outdoor Centre where the sojourn will begin. Washrooms and the snack bar will both be open throughout the day, and trail maps will be available.
The Cataraqui Conservation Foundation, which is the fundraising arm of Cataraqui Conservation, will be holding a ‘Yard Sale’ with all proceeds from the sale of items going to support conservation education programs, according to the release. All items are new and have been donated by local individuals, organizations, and businesses.
For those participating in the Cataraqui Conservation 2022 Hike Challenge, Cataraqui Conservation said that this is a perfect opportunity to check one trail off your list.
