For the sixth consecutive year, the annual Empire Life United Way campaign exceed its fundraising goal. Employee and retiree donations and events raised $276,861 this year, to benefit United Way programs and agencies across Canada.
The 2022 campaign committee for Empire Life, a Canada-wide insurance company headquartered here in Kingston, chose the theme Stronger Together for this year’s national campaign to reflect the teamwork, unity, and positive change their colleagues are known for, according to a release from the company.
“Our Stronger Together campaign connected the Empire team through a shared sense of responsibility to give back, to help, and to care,” said Rupa Naran, Campaign Co-Chair (Kingston office). “Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our employees and retirees, we’re helping to make a positive impact in the lives of many people, coast to coast to coast.”
Once again, the company matched pledges dollar for dollar up to $125,000. According to the release, the campaign featured team huddles with United Way agency speakers, a bake sale, a virtual cooking class, a Halloween costume contest, and an online silent auction featuring items donated by employees, local companies, and business partners.
“Our annual United Way campaign is an important part of our culture of caring and giving back to the community,” said Zartashia Hashmi, Campaign Co-Chair (Greater Toronto area). “Our modest efforts will positively impact many people in our communities and that light of hope we’ve given to someone else will also brighten our lives.”
