Eight charged with stunt driving in Lennox and Addington over the weekend

Over the weekend, the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged eight drivers with stunt driving.

According to a release from the OPP, dated Monday, May 27, 2024, multiple vehicles were stopped travelling at high rates of speed along Highway 401 in Lennox and Addington County. In total, eight drivers were charged with stunt driving, police said.

All drivers stopped were travelling at speeds ranging from 152km/h to 165km/h, the OPP detailed. Each driver received a 30-day licence suspension and a court date, and their vehicles were impounded for 14 days.

In the release, the OPP reminds the public that road safety is everyone’s responsibility.

“Drivers and other road users can significantly contribute to safer roads by avoiding taking unnecessary risks and complying with all traffic laws,” the OPP stated.
