Early morning spill on St. Remy Place poses no threat

Emergency responders were called to the scene of a trailer leaking corrosive fluids on St. Remy Place around 5 a.m. on Thursday, Jun. 24, 2021. Witnesses reported a heavy chemical odour in the area.

Kingston Fire and Rescue were able to contain the leak quickly and, according to Kingston Fire & Rescue Platoon Chief Mike Kiley, there were no injuries, the leak was fully contained, and there was no broader environmental impact from this incident. No closures or exclusion zones were necessary.

The trailer contained multiple products both corrosive and flammable, and chemical absorbant was deployed to contain the spill. A clean up crew is expected to attend the location to complete the hazardous containment.
