Early morning blaze breaks out in Charles Street residence

Montreal Street has reopened to traffic at the Charles Street intersection. Kingston Police and Kingston Fire & Rescue have advised that motorist and pedestrians should continue to avoid Charles Street as it remains closed between Montreal Street and Patrick Street while crews continue to be on scene.

At approximately 3:25a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, Kingston Fire & Rescue along with Frontenac Paramedics and Kingston Police are currently on scene of a working fire in the 100 block of Charles Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw a significant amount of smoke and flame coming out of the residence. Crews are continuing to battle the blaze as of 4:34a.m.

Charles Street is currently blocked between Montreal Street and Patrick Street. Montreal Street is also blocked at the intersection of Charles Street due to fire operations. Kingston Police and Kingston Fire & Rescue have advised motorists and pedestrians to avoid this area while operations continue.
