Drugs, cell phones seized after suspected drone drop at Bath Institution

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) has seized a package of contraband intended to make its way inside Bath Institution.
According to CSC, the package was seized “as a result of the assistance of the community and the vigilance of staff members” on Sunday, Mar. 21, 2021.
The contraband seized included drugs, tobacco, as well as cell phones and cell phone accessories with a total estimated institutional value of $34,400, CSC said on Tuesday, Mar. 23, 2021.
The package was a suspected drone drop, and the drugs recovered were believe to be shatter, CSC told Kingstonist in an email.
“The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone. CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions,” CSC said in a release.
“CSC has set up a telephone tip line for all federal institutions so that it may receive additional information about activities relating to security at CSC institutions. These activities may be related to drug use or trafficking that may threaten the safety and security of visitors, inmates and staff members working at CSC institutions.”
