Drug warrant in Amherstview leads to two arrests

Two men from Amherstview are facing multiple charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant early today.

Officers from the Lennox and Addington County detachment of the OPP executed a controlled drugs and substances act search warrant at an Addington Street address in Amherstview. As a result, investigators seized a quantity of methamphetamine, carfentanil, and hydromorphone pills that have a street value of $1,500. Stolen property was also seized.

A 43-year-old male and a 48-year-old male, both from Amherstview, were arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (carfentanil)
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (crystal methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

The 43-year-old male was further charged with possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order under order. He was held in police custody to attend a bail hearing later today.

The 48-year-old male was released from custody on conditions to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019.
