Drone, over 400 grams of marijuana seized at Collins Bay Institution

Correctional Service Canada (CSC) is reporting a large seizure of contraband items that were located on the property of Collins Bay Institution.

According to CSC, staff members at the institution seized a drone with the package at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2, 2019. The seized contraband items included 102.8 grams of tobacco, and 428.4 grams of marijuana. The total estimated institutional value of the seizure is $45,240.

Police have been notified of the seizure, and the institution is investigating the incident, CSC said in a press release on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019.

“The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone,” the press release said. “CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions.”
