Driver dead after fiery tractor trailer collision near Deseronto

A transport driver has died following a fatal collision involving two tractor trailers on highway 401, Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed.
Initial reports of the collision and subsequent fire, which fully engulfed one of the two transports, began shortly after 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. The collision occurred on the westbound lanes between Deseronto Road and Highway 49 and followed another transport fire, also on the 401 westbound, earlier in the morning at around 6:30 a.m. near Marysville Rd. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) remained on the scene, as well as local fire crews who continued to work on the active fire for nearly four hours.
Initially, the whereabouts of one of the two drivers involved was unknown, according to a news release from the OPP, who later confirmed that one of the two drivers had succumbed to their injuries.
While the 401 westbound in the Marysville area has since reopened, it remains closed near Deseronto Rd.
