Driver charged with stunt driving on Highway 401 in Kingston

A 21-year-old Brampton resident is facing multiple charges after officers of the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped them for speeding.

At approximately 11:34 a.m. on Saturday, Apr. 2, 2022, OPP officers intercepted the vehicle driving 170 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone on Highway 401 in the Kingston area. As a result of the traffic stop, the Brampton driver is facing the following charges, according to a release from the OPP:

  • Operating a motor vehicle while performing a stunt – speeding,
  • Drive motor vehicle – Fail to display two plates, and
  • Fail to have insurance card.

The driver was issued a summons to appear at the Ontario Provincial Offences Court in Kingston in June 2022. The accused had their licence suspended for 30 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for 14 days. They will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
