Driver charged after collision closes section of Highway 38

Four people were transported to hospital following a collision that closed down part of Highway 38 on Sunday, Jun. 25, 2023.
At approximately 1:45 p.m. that day, Kingston Police, Kingston Fire & Rescue, and Frontenac Paramedics were all dispatched to Highway 38 at Burbrook Road, just north of Highway 401. Upon arrival on scene, police found two vehicles were involved in the collision, each carrying one driver and one passenger.
“Due to the extent of the damage both drivers and both passengers were transported to hospital to be assessed,” said Constable Anthony Colangeli, Media Relations Officer for Kingston Police.
Highway 38 was closed from Unity Road to Burbrook Road in both directions as police carried out their investigation. The section of the highway was reopened by 4:40 p.m., according to police.

While three of those sent to hospital were found to have minor injuries, the fourth sustained “serious, but non-life-threatening injuries,” police said the following day.
As a result of their investigation, Kingston Police have charged one of the drivers with careless driving, Colangeli disclosed.
Police did not release the name of the driver charged in the incident.
