Just over two weeks ago, local charity Dress for Success Kingston was broken into, leaving much of the stock stolen.
The charity, which works with local women to help them secure employment and financial independence, had lost over $7,800 worth of inventory. However, thanks to the kindness of the local community Dress for Success Kingston is now filled to the brim with newly donated clothing, jewelry, accessories, footwear and new make-up to help them continue the work they do.
“The generosity of the community has been overwhelming. Our phones and social media messages have been constant since the break in and we are truly thankful for the support. Our closet is now full and our focus needs to shift back to our clients full time. We are hoping donations can be spread to our community partners who are also in need,” said Lindsay MacDonald, Executive Director of Dress for Success Kingston. “We would like to sincerely thank this incredible community for the warm wishes, generous donations and kind gestures of assistance. We could not have done this without each and every person who has donated, offered words of support, and helped at our boutique.”
Clothing donations can no longer be accepted due to capacity. The team at Dress for Success would like to request that all donations be shared with our fellow not for profits in Kingston.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to extend our sincere gratitude for our amazing staff and many volunteers who immediately responded in our time of need. The immense support from our community has been heartwarming.” said Terri McDade, President Board of Directors for Dress for Success Kingston.
Since opening, Dress for Success Kingston has served over 1,123 women in Kingston and the Area.
