While it isn’t the official Princess Street Promenade experience, it’s certainly the closest event to it Kingston has seen since the start of the pandemic.

Tomorrow, Saturday, Jul. 10, 2021, Princess Street will be closed to vehicles while downtown Kingston merchants participate in a day-long on-street shopping experience.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the road will be unavailable to vehicles from Division Street to Ontario Street, while shops spill outside to showcase their wares, and provide more space for physical distancing and patio seating.

According to the Downtown Kingston! Business Improvement Area (BIA), participating businesses will have hand sanitization available. Patrons and retail employees are encouraged, but not required, to wear a mask outside. Patrons are required to wear a mask inside. Remember to maintain physical distancing based on KFL&A Public Health guidelines.

Downtown Kingston! has also launched a Spread the Joy Passport, which allows shoppers to earn stickers at participating downtown businesses. When the passport is full, enter to win prizes from downtown merchants. Full details on the passport are available on the Downtown Kingston! website.

Downtown Kingston shoppers can take advantage of two hours of free parking in surface lots every Saturday until further notice through HonkMobile. Kingstonians can use the promo code “BIATWOHOURFREE”. Please note that for the Ontario-Brock lot, the promo code is “BIADKTWOHOURFREE”.
