Downtown Kingston celebrates Art After Dark this Friday

Art After Dark returns to downtown Kingston this Friday — art galleries and art-loving businesses open their doors and invite patrons to browse and buy some of the best art Kingston has to offer.

Friday, May 27, 2022, from 7 to 10 pm, art enthusiasts are invited to wander, chat, and maybe start or add to their personal collections. According to a release from Downtown Kingston!, there’s also a pretty exciting prize up for grabs: patrons can enter to win $500 towards the purchase of an original art piece at one of the participating locations.

“It’s so easy to walk around downtown and miss these spaces that really champion local art and artists,” said Sandi Griffiths, Events Coordinator for the Downtown Kingston! BIA. “There are so many hidden gems, and Art After Dark helps spotlight the wealth of artistic talent in the City.”

Art After Dark is a bi-annual event; Griffiths said that the BIA usually runs one in the spring and one in the fall. In 2020 and 2021 the spring events were cancelled but the fall Art After Dark was celebrated in a safe and distanced manner. This spring the full experience has returned, including light refreshments, friendly conversation, and compelling displays.
