Domestic disturbance call results in arrest for drug trafficking and previous assault

Police responding to a domestic disturbance ended up laying two unrelated charges when the accused man was found to be wanted for a previous assault, as well as in possession of a large quantity of cocaine.
At approximately 8:46 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, Kingston Police responded the domestic disturbance call at a downtown residence. Although police determined there were no grounds for domestic charges in the case, the accused male was found to have a warrant out for his arrest for an unrelated assault. The man had left the residence in an unknown direction.
A short time later, police located the accused man on Johnson Street. He was arrested on the warrant and, during a search, the accused man was found to be in possession of a large quantity of a substance suspected to be cocaine.
The 24-year-old local man was taken to Kingston Police Headquarters, where he was later released on conditions with a future court date, and charged with assault and trafficking.
