An inmate at the Regional Treatment Centre within Millhaven Institution has died, according to the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC).

The CSC issued a press release on the afternoon of Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, stating that inmate Steven Connors died while in CSC custody “of apparent natural causes” earlier the same day. Connors was 62 years old at the time of his death, the national correctional agency said.

At the time of his death, Connors had been serving a sentence of eight years and eight months, which commenced on November 11, 2022, after he was convicted of robbery, disguising oneself with the intent to commit an offence, failure to comply with an order, and forcible confinement, according to CSC.

“The inmate’s next of kin have been notified,” CSC said.

“As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.”
