The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) has seized a package containing contraband and unauthorized items intended to make their way inside Collins Bay Institution.

According to CSC, the packages were seized at the multi-security facility “as the result of the vigilance of staff members” on Saturday, Apr. 23, 2022.

“This seizure was the result of a suspected throw-over,” stated Mike Schrider, Regional Communications Manager for the CSC.

CSC said that the seized items included 288 grams of tobacco and 153 grams of cannabis.

“The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) has measures in place to prevent contraband and unauthorized items from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone,” the national correctional authority said in a release. “CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband and/or unauthorized items into correctional institutions.”
