CSC reports inmate death of convicted murderer at Millhaven Institution

An inmate at Millhaven Institution has died while in custody, according to the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC).

In a press release, dated Thursday, May 30, 2024, CSC reported that 44-year-old John Bride died yesterday, Wednesday. May 29, 2024. At the time of his death, Bride had been serving an indeterminate sentence for first degree murder, theft, robbery, use of a firearm, and escaping lawful custody. His sentence began on June 24, 1998, the national correctional authority said.

“The inmate’s next of kin have been notified,” CSC  reported.

Bride’s cause of death is not known at this time.

“At this time, further information regarding the cause of death is not available,” said Mike Shrider, a Regional Communications Manager for CSC, in an email.

As in all cases involving an inmate’s death, CSC will review the circumstances, the federal agency relayed. CSC policy requires that the Office of the Coroner be notified.
