CSC reports inmate death at Millhaven Regional Treatment Centre

According to Correctional Service Canada (CSC), an inmate from the Regional Treatment Centre at Millhaven Institution has died while in their custody of apparent natural causes following an illness.

James Rolland, aged 74, died on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, CSC said in a press release dated Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020. At the time of his death, Rolland, had been serving a sentence of 6 years for sexual assault, invite sexual touching person under 14 and sexual interference person under 14, since his sentence commenced on September 13, 2018.

Rolland’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

CSC will review the circumstances surrounding this death, as they do in all cases involving the death of an inmate. As per CSC policy, the police and coroner have been notified.
