CSC reports inmate death at Millhaven Institution

An inmate from Millhaven Institution has died while in the custody of Correctional Service Canada (CSC).

According to CSC, Robert Arnett died of apparent natural causes on Monday, Aug. 14, 2023. At the time of his death, Arnett, 71, had been serving an indeterminate sentence which began on April 12, 1994, for aggravated assault and intentional use of force.

Arnett’s next of kin have been notified.

In a media release dated Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, CSC stated that, as in all cases involving the death of an inmate, they will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
