CSC reports inmate death at Millhaven Institution

An inmate has died while in custody at Millhaven institution.
On Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020, Edward Schwartz, 81 years of age, died of apparent natural causes while in custody, according to a release from Correctional Service Canada (CSC).
At the time of his death, Mr. Schwartz had been serving a Life sentence for Aggravated Assault, Non-Capital Murder, Overcome Resistance, Possess Weapon or Imitation, and Public Mischief and Robbery, since his sentence commenced November 2, 1973, CSC said in the release.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
