CSC reports death of inmate at Millhaven Institution

An inmate at Millhaven Institution, Regional Treatment Centre has died of apparent natural causes, according to Correctional Service Canada (CSC).

Laurier Deguire, 88, died on Sunday, Mar. 24, 2019 while in the custody of CSC. At the time of his death, Deguire had been serving an eight-year sentence for various sexual offences since April 17, 2015, CSC said in a press release on Tuesday, Mar. 26, 2019.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death, and, as in all cases involving the death of an inmate, CSC will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and coroner be notified in the case of the death of an inmate.
