CSC report death of inmate at Bath Institution

An inmate has died while in the custody of Correctional Service Canada (CSC) at Bath Institution, according to CSC.

On Saturday, Apr. 13, 2019, James Clark, 67, died of apparent natural causes. At the time of his death, Clark had been serving a nine-year sentence for four counts of sexual assault, four counts of sexual exploitation, and sexual interference since February of 2018. Clark was charged in Welland, Ont. in February of 2015 after an investigation into historic sexual offences involving youths that occurred in the 1990s.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death and, as in all cases involving the death of an inmate, CSC will review the circumstances of Clark’s death, and police and the regional coroner have been notified.
