Traffic stop leads to impaired driving charges for Napanee resident

A Napanee driver is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in Greater Napanee.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Napanee, according to a release from the OPP.

As part of an investigation, an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and the OPP said that the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

Malcolm Perry, 22 years old, of Napanee, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired – alcohol and drugs

Perry was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in March 2023. His licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
