Kingston Police investigating after one found deceased at scene of fire

Kingston Police now say that they, along with the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office and the Regional Coroner’s Office, are investigating a death in relation to a fire call in the early morning hours of July 14, 2021.

According to police, the fire started in a detached garage belonging to a residence in the area of Rideau Street and Dufferin Street, and during the initial part of that investigation, a deceased individual was located at the scene of the fire.

Kingston Police have since confirmed that the victim is a 25-year-old male, and next-of-kin have been notified. His identity has not been released at the request of the family.

Police are seeking information from the public regarding the incident, which they are now treating as suspicious.
