John Counter Boulevard at Montreal Street closed following serious incident

Kingston Police are currently on scene of a serious incident that occurred near the Tim Horton’s, located at John Counter Boulevard and Montreal Street.

At approximately 10:18p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, Kingston Police, Frontenac Paramedics and Kingston Fire and Rescue responded to the intersection of John Counter Boulevard at Montreal Street for a medical emergency. Police arrived on scene first, to which they located a male lying in the grass outside of Tim Hortons with no vital signs.

CPR was administered by officers on scene. Upon arrival of paramedics, the patient was pronounced dead at the scene. Reports indicate that the individual may have been involved in a stabbing, however Kingston Police has yet to provide confirmation on any details as it is an open investigation.

John Counter Boulevard remains closed between Montreal Street and Maple Street while police investigate. Cruisers have also blocked off all access into the Bingo Hall and Big Bites plaza parking lot as the parking lot is apart of the investigation, according the officers on the scene.

Kingston Police have advised motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area. Reopening time is unknown, however officers are hoping that the road should be open for the morning commute.
