COVID-19 outbreak on Sydenham 4 at Providence Manor declared over

After two COVID-19 outbreaks were resolved at Providence Care facilities yesterday, a third outbreak has also been declared over by the health care organization.
An outbreak of the virus, declared on Sydenham 4, a resident home area at Providence Manor, is now over, Providence Care stated. The outbreak was originally declared on Tuesday, Apr. 26, 2022, after three residents tested positive for the virus.
“All Sydenham 4 residents were placed on contact and aerosol precautions, monitored closely for symptoms and tested for the virus multiple times throughout the outbreak,” Providence Care said in a media release dated Friday, May 6, 2022. “All staff members who worked on Sydenham 4 were also tested for COVID-19 and participated in on-going surveillance testing for the duration of the outbreak.”
An outbreak continues on Sydenham 3 at the long term care home, and additional safety measures, including visitor restrictions, remain in place.
Providence Care, along with Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (KFL&A) Public Health, declared the Sydenham 4 outbreak over on May 6, 2022, because it has been 10 days since the last confirmed positive case, according to the release. All residents at the long-term care home and their loved ones have been alerted.
Providence Care stated that all quarantine precautions and measures in place as a result of the outbreaks have been lifted; however, safety measures remain in place across all Providence Care sites, including:
- All staff members are actively screened daily for COVID-19 symptoms. They continue to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), practice physical distancing and good hand hygiene.
- Anyone entering a Providence Care site is required to wear a mask, unless they have a medical exemption.
- All visitors must pass screening. If they do not pass screening, they will not be permitted to enter. Individuals who pass screening must wear a mask at all times for the duration of their visit.
