The Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario (CEPEO) has confirmed that a declared outbreak at École Élémentaire Publique Madeleine-De-Roybon in Kingston has now grown to include eight students and one staff member.

The French public elementary school, located on Gilmour Avenue between Kingston’s Strathcona Park and Calvin Park neighbourhoods, has now closed four classes at the school as a result. The cases and dismissed classes are currently included on CEPEO’s ‘Summary of active and resolved cases in CEPEO facilities’, and shows no cases have been resolved in the outbreak as of time of publication.

“School boards must report to the Ministry of Education daily all confirmed cases of COVID-19 in their school community. The COVID cases confirmed in our schools are listed on the CEPEO website, and through the government websites and local health offices, where information is available.

Please note that only cases confirmed positive by public health authorities are added to it,” CEPEO states on its COVID-19 information webpage.

École Élémentaire Publique Madeleine-De-Roybon remains open, with all other classes unaffected.

This outbreak is one of two current COVID-19 outbreaks in local schools, according to KFL&A Public Health data. An outbreak was declared at Loughborough Public School on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021. The school remains open, as the outbreak was declared within only one cohort.
