COVID-19 outbreak declared at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, an elementary school in Kingston’s north end.
The outbreak was declared on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, and involves two student cases, according to data from both KFL&A Public Health, and the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB). It is unclear when either case was detected, as the ALCDSB does not list that information on its listing of active COVID-19 cases within the board. The school remains open at this time.
This is the second outbreak to take place at St. Francis of Assisi in the month of November, with the first outbreak declared on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021.
The school is one of three area schools to have COVID-19 outbreaks declared (publicly) on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, with two schools declaring outbreaks the day before. Currently, there are eight schools within the LDSB with declared outbreaks, and 56 active cases of COVID-19 within the board. In the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB), three schools within KFL&A have declared outbreaks, and there are over nine cases of COVID-19 within the board locally, though the not all numbers are provided for schools where active outbreaks are occurring.
There are currently 24 active outbreaks in KFL&A and 78 active COVID-19 cases associated with those outbreaks.
