The outbreak was declared on Friday, Dec. 24, 2021, and involves four cases, three of which are currently active, according to local Public Health. While the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario, Ontario’s French public school board, lists active and resolved cases within its schools, there are currently only two active cases listed at École Élémentaire Publique Madeleine-De-Roybon – one staff member case, and one student case. KFL&A Public Health does not specify whether the cases involved in the outbreak are those of staff and/or students.

According to the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario, three classes are closed as a result of the outbreak, but no class cohorts have been impacted. The school remains open, according to the board.

There are currently 53 COVID-19 outbreaks in KFL&A, involving 246 active cases. Of those outbreaks, 21 (or 39.6 per cent) are within area schools.
