Three outbreaks were declared at LDSB elementary schools last week, first at R.G Sinclair Public School on Monday, Oct. 25, 2021 (total of 14 cases), where the first case was detected on Sunday, Oct. 24. The second outbreak was declared at J.G. Simcoe Public School on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021 (total of five cases), with the first case detected there on Wednesday, Oct. 20. The third outbreak was declared at Molly Brant Elementary School on Friday, Oct. 29, 2021 (total of two cases), with the first case detected there on Thursday, Oct. 28.

Currently, there are 31 active COVID-19 cases within the Board of the 88 active cases within the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (KFL&A) region (as of Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021), equating to 35 per cent of the cases currently being monitored by KFL&A Public Health.

The other LDSB schools with active cases currently are:

  • Frontenac Secondary School: One student case; Two class cohorts and one bus cohort isolating; School remains open.
  • LaSalle Intermediate and Secondary School: One student case; One class cohort and one bus cohort isolating; School remains open
  • Lord Strathcona Public School: One student case; One class cohort isolating; School remains open.
  • Loyalist Collegiate and Vocational Institute (LCVI): One staff member case; One class cohort isolating; School remains open.

  • J.G. Simcoe Public School: Five student cases; School remains open; Visitors restricted at this time.
  • Molly Brant Elementary School: Two student cases; School remains open; Visitors restricted at this time.
  • Perth Road Public School: One staff case, three student cases (four cases total); Seven class cohorts and one bus cohort isolating; School remains open.

It is important to note that a positive case at a school does not mean the individual was exposed to COVID-19 at the school; They may have been exposed somewhere else in the community.

Currently, there are no active cases within the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, or the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario, according to the data reported daily by the school boards.
