All preschool children at Amherstview Day Care have been instructed to isolate after KFL&A Public Health confirmed a COVID-19 case has been linked to the centre.

The information was conveyed to families of the daycare centre in an email on the evening of Sunday, Apr. 25, 2021.

“Currently, Public Health is continuing the investigation to determine the risk level for our centre,” daycare Supervisor Caroline Hickman wrote in the email. “At this time it is imperative that all preschool children are self isolating. We know this is alarming and we will share information as it becomes available to us.”

The email goes on to say that the preschool classroom at Amherstview Day Care will be closed until the centre is advised it is safe to reopen by Public Health. The centre’s toddler and infant program will remain open, and only educators who are not part of the preschool cohort will be involved in those programs, according to the email.

Amherstview Day Care is expected to update families with more information later today.
