COVID-19 Assessment Centre moving to Leon’s Centre

Kingston’s COVID-19 Assessment Centre will move to the Leon’s Centre on Monday, June 29. The Assessment Centre will continue operate at its current location at the Memorial Centre June 25 to 27, and be closed Sunday, June 28 to prepare for the move.

The decision to move from the Kingston Memorial Centre was taken in partnership with the City of Kingston, Frontenac Paramedics and KFL&A Public Health in order to provide a comfortable and safe air-conditioned location during the heat of summer. According to a press release from Kingston Health Sciences Centre, the testing centre will remain at the Leon’s Centre until mid-August.

The Assessment Centre is set up to assess community residents who:

  • are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, cough or difficulty breathing,
  • don’t have symptoms but are concerned about exposure to known or potential COVID-19 cases
  • don’t have symptoms but have risk from exposure in the line of duty (essential workers, health care workers, etc.).

The Assessment Centre will re-open Monday, June 29 at Leon’s Centre, 1 The Tragically Hip Way. Patients are advised enter at Gate 2 on Ontario St., marked by bright green COVID-19 signs.The assessment centre will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed Canada Day, Wednesday, July 1.
