Hall Monitor: Time Sensitive

Kingston City Council Meetings, #ygkcLast night, our city council met off-site again, for the second meeting of the two… uh, make that five… of our meetings on the road and met in the Kingston Room at the Vimy Officer’s Mess at CFB Kingston. We had no Councillor George for this meeting due to a death in the family. As usual, the agenda and addeds are on the city website. This meeting, by the way, is the first of the 2013 calendar, and officially marks the more-than-halfway mark in council’s term – there are now less weeks left to the next municipal election than have passed since the last.

The meeting last night ran long – but the motion to extend beyond an item early in our agenda (In a CAO report) and time sensitive items lost, meaning the majority of the meeting is being bumped to out next meeting, including motions on the Belle Park Golf Course and committee reports from Planning, Heritage, Administrative Policies, Arts and Recreation, EITP and Accessibility. In the end, council gathered a lot of information and heard from a number of delegations – and they asked staff to research the impacts of a living wage policy. But not much else. Guess we’ll see the rest soon.

Technical issues (slow wifi) prevented a stream of either audio or video, but the full tweet stream is below. The Mayor may call a special meeting of council to finish last night’s agenda – but it’s unlikely given the holidays – if he does, I’ll try to be there. Otherwise, our next scheduled meeting will be on December 18th at Memorial Hall.
