Contraband seized at Joyceville Institution Assessment Unit

Packages containing contraband items including marijuana and tobacco have been seized in the Assessment Unit at Joyceville Institution, according to Correctional Service Canada (CSC).
On Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, the packages were seized at approximately 11 p.m. “as the result of the vigilance of staff members from both the Assessment and Minimum Security Units” CSC said in a press release on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019.
Contraband items seized as a result included seven grams of marijuana, 54 grams of tobacco, and rolling papers. This seizure has an estimated institutional value of $6,100, according to CSC.
Police have been notified, and the Institution is investigating the incident.
