Construction crane climbers arrested

Kingston Fire & Rescue crews and Kingston Police were on scene at approximately 12:42 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021 for a high angle rescue where two intoxicated individuals climbed to the top of the crane at a construction site in the 600 block of Princess Street, between Albert Street and Frontenac Street.

Two Kingston Fire & Rescue pumper trucks, a ladder truck, a technical rescue vehicle, and a command unit responded to the scene.

Both persons involved were eventually able to climb down the crane on their own, following which they were taken into custody and transported to headquarters by police.

Kingston Fire & Rescue crews were on scene for about an hour and have since been cleared.

Kingston Police say that both individuals, who are not permanent residents of Kingston, were charged with Trespassing and Public Intoxication.
