After a burst water pipe affected areas of Hotel Dieu Hospital (HDH) on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, the hospital has returned to full operations.

“A Code Brown (flooding) was called at the Hotel Dieu Hospital (HDH) site of Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC),” the hospital said in a media update on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023. “The source of this was found to be a burst water pipe affecting several areas of Sydenham, Cenetenary and Johnson Wings of the HDH site. Our team quickly responded to contain water damage and assess the impacts.”

KHSC said that after assessment of the impacted areas, all clinics that were impacted by water damage have now resumed in-patient appointments. This includes the following areas:

  • Centenary 5 – Heads Up! and Eating Disorder clinic
  • Centenary 4 – GI Function unit
  • Centenary 2 – Diabetes clinic, Bariatric Care clinic

“All patients are asked to come to their appointment as regularly scheduled,” KHSC said. “We would like to thank everyone who responded so quickly and efficiently to the situation to minimize the impact. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.”
