The City of Kingston is waiving monthly payments for some services which have been impacted by the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Those payments will be waived for the month of April, the City said in a press release on Friday, Mar. 20, 2020.

Current Kingston Transit passes and parking permits will be automatically extended through April at no cost, and recreation fitness membership payments will be suspended for the month of April.

Kingston Transit passes

Kingston Transit is automatically extending currently monthly transit passes through the month of April. This means that riders and residents can continue to use passes issued for March 2020 until the end of April 2020.

The sale of transit passes is suspended online and at all sales outlets until further notice. Riders and residents who have already purchased a monthly transit pass for April will receive a further automatic one-month extension, and riders who use the Employee Transpass Program should discuss reimbursement directly with their employers.

Parking permits

All current monthly parking permits through the City will be extended through the month of April at no additional cost, and existing permits will be renewed automatically and be valid through April. Current parking permit holders will receive an email notice with information about this extension.

Online and in-person payment processing for renewals have also been suspended until further notice. Those who have already purchased a monthly parking permit for April will receive a one-month extension, the City said.

Recreation fitness memberships

Monthly payments for fitness memberships are suspended for the month of April, even if recreation facilities re-open during that time, the City said. Those who have a Fit Pass, Wellness Pass, Gym Pass or Pool Pass membership do not need to contact the City, as their PLAY accounts will be automatically adjusted. For clients who pre-paid for their annual fitness memberships, one month will be automatically added to their accounts.
