City to reinstate parking restrictions and monthly permit payments

The City of Kingston will be reinstating on-street time-of-day parking restrictions and monthly parking permit payments on October 1, 2020, the City said in a statement released Friday, Sept. 18, 2020.
These payments and restrictions had been temporarily lifted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the City has been gradually restoring parking operations as the province continues to reopen.
On-street time-of-day restrictions
According to the statement, on-street time-of-day parking restrictions will be reinstated effective Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020. Time-of-day restrictions refer to streets that restrict parking for an hour in the morning and afternoon such as 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., and includes the residential parking permit areas. Parking regulations can be reviewed online at CityofKingston.ca/Parking.
Monthly parking permits
Payments for monthly on-street and surface parking permits will be reinstated effective Thursday Oct. 1, 2020 as well. According to the statement, current permit holders will receive an email notice with additional information on next steps to renew their permit. If permit holders had paid for a month or more in advance between April and September, the permit will be automatically extended by the number of months paid in advance.
Permit holders with questions about the renewal process can contact Customer Service at 613-546-0000, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or email [email protected]. Residents in an on-street permit area that require a residential parking permit can review information at CityofKingston.ca/Parking.
The City always encourages commuters to use Kingston Transit. Transit schedules are available online at KingstonTransit.ca/Schedules. Riders can also plan their trips using Google Maps, TransitApp, or Moovit.
