City of Kingston closes all recreation facilities

In light of the current measures being put in place to help stop the spread of coronavirus COVID-19, the City of Kingston is closing all public recreation facilities.
All programing and facility bookings have been suspended at:
- Artillery Park Aquatic Centre
- Cataraqui Community Centre
- Centre 70
- INVISTA Centre
- Memorial Centre
- Rideau Heights Community Centre
The centres will be closed beginning Tuesday, Mar. 17 and until Sunday, Apr. 5, 2020. According to the City, during the period of closure, City Staff will perform maintenance and do a deep-cleaning of the facilities. If the City decides to extend the closures, details of that extension will be communicated through the City’s website and social media channels.
The City said they will be reviewing and making adjustments to fitness memberships upon reopening.
“We understand the impact of this difficult decision on program participants and patrons of our facilities,” the City said in a press release on Monday, Mar. 16, 2020.
Program and facility bookings will be refunded, including but not limited to:
- Program registrations
- Facility bookings and arenas and community centres
Further communication will be provided directly to those impacted by these closures and by the subsequent facility rental and program cancellations.
“As we are making this important announcement, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the process of responding to the volume of inquiries we’re receiving,” the City said.
Inquiries regarding the closures and refunds can be emailed to [email protected].
