The City of Kingston is looking for a board member for the Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL). The KFPL Board oversees the library’s goals and objectives, develops policies, advocates for the library and engages with community members to understand their needs for future services, resources and programming, according to a release from the City of Kingston.

“Board members are appointed for a term that aligns with Kingston City Council and will serve until 2026,” the City stated. “The board typically meets eight times per year; special meetings are occasionally held for time-sensitive discussions.”

In response to Kingstonist’s inquiries, the City confirmed that the KFPL Board position is volunteer, and there is only one vacancy on the board.

According to the City, the main role of the board is to provide the library with over-arching, future-focused goals and to monitor the library’s progress toward those goals. On its website, the City suggested that it is important to remember that the board does not make operating decisions for the library regarding the day-to-day activities of the library.
