The City of Kingston is holding an open house to invite feedback on the draft background study and draft 2019 Development Charge Bylaw that will consolidate all growth-related charges. While the city currently collects development-related charges (Development Charge and Impost Fee) when a building permit is issued, the current bylaw is expiring in September. In order to continue imposing this bylaw, the city has prepared a new Background Study to support the new Development Charge and a new Bylaw, as required by the Development Charges Act.

The open house will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 in Meeting Rooms A and B at the INVISTA Centre, 1350 Gardiners Rd. A formal presentation will take place at 6:15 p.m.

Community members are invited to come view poster boards outlining the background study process and the current and proposed development charge. The consultant team and City staff will be available prior to and after the formal presentation to answer questions.

Comments can be given at the open house or sent in writing to senior special projects manager George Wallace. Wallace can be reached by email at [email protected] by mail at 216 Ontario Street, Kingston, Ontario, K7L 2Z3.
