Citizen complaint on Highway 401 leads to impaired driving arrest in Napanee

After a concerned citizen contacted police with a traffic complaint regarding another driver on Highway 401, members of the Lennox and Addington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested that driver, who is now facing impaired driving-related charges.
Just after 12 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, officers were dispatched to the area of the complaint on Highway 401 eastbound near Napanee.
According to a release from the OPP, officers were updated that the vehicle exited Highway 401 at County Road 41, at which time it was located and a traffic stop was conducted. Officers spoke to the driver who was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.
David Cass, 71 years old, of Toronto, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Cass was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in November 2022. His licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days. Cass will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
