Kingston man charged with three child pornography offences

A local man was found to be in possession of files that are considered to be child pornography.

On Friday, July 24, 2020 Kingston Police commenced an investigation into an unknown person in the City of Kingston having in their possession child pornography, according to a release from Kingston Police dated Friday, Oct. 2, 2020.

Kingston Police say that on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020 at approximately 6:19 a.m., as a result of the ongoing investigation, a search warrant was executed at a residence in downtown Kingston. An examination of digital devices revealed evidence of files believed to meet the Criminal Code definition of child pornography.

As a result, 77 year old George Stea was arrested and charged with two counts of possessing child pornography, one count of accessing child pornography, and one count of making child pornography available. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing.
